About the Institute for Spam and Internet Public Policy
About ISIPP
The Institute for Social Internet Public Policy (formerly known as The Institute
for Spam and Internet Public Policy) is dedicated to
providing analysis, information, and consulting on industry issues
relating to public policies and processes regarding spam, email, email
deliverability, and the
Internet. ISIPP also provides a widely-used email senders
accreditation service, SuretyMail, and organizes and sponsors industry forums such
as email management roundtables, email deliverability summits, and
Internet law conferences.
The ISIPP Team:
Anne P. Mitchell, Esq., CEO
Anne Mitchell is the CEO and President of the Institute. Mitchell brings with
her nearly 10 years of experience in the Internet and email industries, both
from the legal and technical side. Mitchell was the Director of Legal and
Public Affairs for Mail Abuse Prevention Systems (MAPS), the original anti-spam
blacklist. Following her time at MAPS, Mitchell was co-founder and CEO of
Habeas, the first of the email reputation services.
In addition to her duties with ISIPP, Mitchell is on the advisory boards of
several email and Internet security companies, is on faculty at Lincoln Law
School of San Jose, and sits on the California State Bar Cyberspace Law Committee.
Qarin Van Brink, DNS Specialist
Qarin Van Brink is ISIPP's DNS Specialist.
Van Brink's experience previous to ISIPP includes working as a systems developer
at Habeas, and as a Quality Engineer for Microsoft, working on
their Macintosh platform software. She has also worked at Fractal as a
Macintosh Software Engineer.
Van Brink has a unique insight into the needs of ISPs. She was a co-founder and CEO of Santa Cruz ISP Scruz.net, and a co-founder
and VP of Technical Operations for Tycho Networks.
Sharon Calhoun, Customer Support and Accounting
Sharon Calhoun is our primary customer support specialist. Sharon first came to
us as an accounting bookkeeper, and quickly worked her way into Customer
Support, applying her keen organizational skills to helping to ensure that our
customers get their email delivered.
With 30 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience, Sharon has served both in upper
management positions, and as Controller, with several organizations prior to
joining ISIPP. Sharon's natural organizational talents, along with her keen ability to understand both senders' needs, and receivers' requirements,
allow her to fulfill both aspects of our mission of both getting wanted mail
into the inbox, and keeping spam out of the inbox.
Mickey Chandler, Web and Database Developer
Mickey Chandler maintains the websites and databases for ISIPP.
Chandler comes to ISIPP with a vast amount of experience in the email receiver
community. A former services specialist for Mail Abuse Prevention System
(MAPS), Chandler has served as President of the Forum for Responsible & Ethical
E-mail (FREE) where he authored anti-spam legislation introduced in Texas and
Hawaii, and consulted to both U.S. and international legistlative bodies on anti-spam
measures.
Chandler presently also serves as the manager of ISP relations for ISIPP SuretyMail
customer Informz.
Luke Crawford, Cross-Platform DNS/Database Specialist
Luke Crawford helps to make sure that the ISPs and spam filters which rely on
our SuretyMail accreditation data are able to make the most of the data they
receive. Crawford ensures that ISPs are able to retrieve the data in the format
most useful for them, and creates our custom ISP-specific zones.
Prior to working with ISIPP, Crawford worked as a staff technician for
Sacramento ISP JPS.net. Crawford also worked as a Tool Developer for Mail Abuse
Prevention Systems (MAPS).
